Had been meaning to upload this, since I finished it last week, however, I was sick and couldn't move a single bone, so here it is now --- An original ballgown skirt design, no pattern used, but lots of improvisation along the way. Would do it so much differently next time...
Shown over "the EPIC hoopskirt", see that here: [link]
The skirt part of my "purple reign" formal dress design, see the design here: [link] Made from purple brushed-back satin, with a waistband of black stretch knit and lace. Used purple cording to make the gathers/swags, there's 7 in total.
I've changed the design several times since, I want the predominant colour to be purple - it was black at one point. And the silk habutae I bought doesn't go with the satin fabric.
Link to the making-of review on PatternReview is here since it will take up too much space here: [link]
Still yet to make the corset! And the skirt looks different now, I took all the drapes out. Hopefully I'll get around to finishing the corset this week as I have lots of artistic time now
It actually doesn't look like that anymore...on impulse I hacked the fabric in half horizontally, as it was far too heavy for the hoopskirt. So now there will be some sort of a ruffle down the bottom
HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! that is so epic >.> im curious as to how will one look in that, but from far its very epic. up close its probably even more epic *do not offend person in epic skirts... SWAMP* and pretty purple
