Yes, that's right, Illustrator 9. I've had it a while - Dad got it for me several years ago, and I've only learned how to use it properly now. That's the version I'm stuck with at home, while at school we now have CS4, and everywhere else seems to have CS3 or higher. Funnily enough, CS4 is so much easier, and I have Illustrator 9 for Windows (GAHHHH!!) whereas I'm used to using it on a Mac...

I'm hoping to get Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard by the end of the year, when I start working again in December (hopefully) and have some money of my own.
I'm contemplating getting the Windows version, since we have Windows...but I'd really like the Mac version.

And for that we will need a new Mac, since the iBook we had died two weeks ago...

Sigh.

Okay, procrastination/rant over, I was trying to create clothing flats in Illustrator today - something I haven't attempted before, but decided to try after finding a book in my local library. So far I have managed to draw a sleeveless top (with topstitching).

And then I looked up more tutorials on creating pattern swatches, since there are only 2 patterns in the existing library...and now I can do seamless pattern swatches!

As well as creating my own swatches, I'd also like to download some. But gah, Illustrator 9 can't handle newer file formats!

Looks like I'll have to upgrade at some point...

Finally bought a proper A2 art folio yesterday, which has a zip and handles so I can transport my artwork to these multiple university interviews I'm going to have to do. And some soft pastels, and some 8" x 10" flat canvasses. Something's been holding me back from picking up my paints for ages, and I'm determined to do something with these two huge blank canvasses I've had for the last year.

Tried soft pastel drawing this morning - but ended up with blue fingers! Smurf colour! Will have to buy some tortillons on my next trip to the art store...

And for now, I'll go off and do some more art. I think I'll take my pastels with me today when I go on the train this afternoon
