Had my first uni interview-sort-of-thing yesterday for a fashion course (my first preference). Okay, it was a design exercise that went for 2 hours, where you were given a, I quote, "FASHION EQUATION" (oh, groan, MATHS!!!) which went like this:
(picture 1) + (picture 2) + (picture 3) = ???
(Picture 1 was a gargoyle statue, Picture 3 was a cherry blossom tree, but I could not for the life of me identify what the hell Picture 2 was...and Picture 2 was slightly pixelated! GAH!!!)
The objective was to design 3 outfits, title the concept (whoops, I forgot that...) and write a one-page summary about your designs.
And there were about 100 people with me in that session, and they ran this exercise 3 times a day, over 5 days. That's 1,500 people that I'm competing with. I'm beginning to doubt I'll even get shortlisted for interview...

Have been dormant with a lack of deviations for ages, but I've got new things to make in December. I've already cut out pieces for a party dress for myself (for New Years Eve, probably) and have been commissioned by a friend to make his sister's graduation dress
On party dresses, I received the "Creativity Award" from school (for being creative, I guess
I'll save up for a proper, adjustable dress dummy this summer, methinks, or maybe I'll get lucky on eBay...though, of course, I'm going to need another job first
And for that same friend, his birthday is coming up, and he's also asked me to make his cake - a 3D grand piano (if I can pull it off).
Mind you, he initially asked for a croquembouche, and I have to come by public transport. Crème pat (custard) and toffee also do not handle 30 degree days very well! But I will make one someday, because I really want to make one! (MasterChef is really having an influence on me! I'm calling crème pâtissière "crème pat" à la Matt Preston!)
Add to that the decorated cake/Christmas food I make just about every Christmas, and I'm going to have a lot of fun (and mess) in the kitchen!
Not sure what themed fruitcake I'll make for Christmas this year yet, but I'll come up with an idea sooner or later.
Aside from that, I need new art and costumes for my visual arts/costume folio interviews in December, so I'm set to do some more screen printing, painting and drawing!
---
And the best part about all this, is now I can actually do art and be creative freely now, without feeling guilty about wasting time! That makes me feel so happy!

P.S. - I normally drink full cream milk, and so does my brother (who probably drinks twice as much as me). I can't stand the taste of skim milk. I think Dad must have misread the labels at the supermarket this week, and so bought 9 litres of skim milk instead of full cream. The labelling on the generic supermarket brand milk is terrible though, so I don't blame him.
You see, I was oblivious to the fact it was skim milk (as I didn't even bother checking the label), until this morning, when Mum said "You're drinking lite milk", and I flatly denied, as the only lite milk we have in the fridge comes in a smaller bottle, which my parents drink. The funny thing was, as soon as she told me I was drinking skim milk, I thought it tasted entirely different. Psychological tasting, I guess

Regarding my deviant account, I might need to draw some hoops and more pettis on my Victorian works, or otherwise scrap them.

Why does it rain, rain, rain down on Utopia,
Why does it have to kill the ideal of who we are? - Within Temptation, Utopia
If you play the songs with a CD player or iPod (out loud) while you're playing the piano, you can pick up the melody fairly quickly. Helps if you can sing along too
I love the corset! It will be my 3rd corset so far, but I don't think I'll have time to make it until next holidays (June).
